About Espacio Cultural Cine Viejo
Espacio Cultural Cine Viejo is Candelaria's municipal arts venue, a converted former cinema that the town council now uses for theatre, dance, film and other performing arts. Shows are programmed almost every weekend, with seasonal programmes that include children's theatre and performances aimed at particular age groups, alongside adult drama, puppetry and concerts.
The main hall is a flexible open space of about 240 square metres with a traditional proscenium stage, professional sound and lighting and a large LED screen, so it can be set up for seated performances or more informal events. There is also a smaller multipurpose room.
The venue is on Calle Los Príncipes in Candelaria, a short walk from the seafront plaza and the Basilica of Our Lady of Candelaria, the island's most important pilgrimage site. Several TITSA bus routes stop close by, which makes it easy to combine a show with a visit to the town's historic centre.
